Ron Dorff
For my first blog post, I thought I would take it back to where it all began. I first came across Ron Dorff featured as a side article in a magazine. Intrigued by the clean lines and slogan ('Discpline is not a dirty word' I made my first order online. I was hooked!
Massively an early adopter, Ron Dorff is great for its simplicity. When they then opened their London store I was one of their first customers. Scarily since then I have developed quite the collection from shorts, to jumpers, swimmers to swedish massage oil, and even a candle or two.
This brand just gets it right. Comfortable, reassuringly expensive (but not crazy), and well made. Plus, it's aspirational. For a guy like me who is more of an average 'rugger bugger' build, finding a brand that fits nicely and actually makes you look and feel good (while not fat like Abercrombie and their sizes attitude). My only drawback I found was their t-shirts and jumpers. Ron Dorff didn't start out with any XXL sizing. I'm 36 inch waist and 44 inch chest, which was just on the cusp for them. However, they recently launched XXL, and the t-shirt I just bought (Working Man & Gym Boy' fit perfectly.
Their marketing is also spot on. Verging on guerrilla (they just sprayed their slogan all over the streets of Paris to launch their entry to Galleries Lafayette). The athletic @kerrydegman is their main model, and he shows it off to perfection! A lot of their advertising is quite cheeky (see the video below).
I have my next shopping list ready: green exerciser shorts and restless sleeveless t-shirt. No doubt I will post when I finally succumb!
The iconic slogan on a beach towel (which I also have)!
